The training is being held on the 12th & 13th August 2025 via Microsoft Teams and is from 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm and attendance is required on both dates.

This course is suitable for staff working in adult health and care settings who have regular contact with adults who may either temporarily or permanently lack mental capacity to make decisions for themselves, or who have mental capacity now but may wish to make arrangements for a time when they may lack capacity in the future. This includes DCC provider services, private/independent contractors or practitioners and voluntary sector partners.

The course will provide you with the knowledge you require to use the Mental Capacity Act (2005) appropriately, ensuring that all aspects of practice are underpinned by the Human Rights Act (1998), Equality Act (2010) and the Mental Capacity Act (2005).

The course is accessed as face to face or virtual training. The face to face course is a full day presentation; the virtual course is split over two half days, both of which are mandatory to complete the course.

If you have a Devon County Council or a NHS email address, you can create an account, and book on to training via DEL.

If you do not have a NHS or DCC email address, you can complete our booking form below.
